The Dolley Madison Project is proud to shine a spotlight on Patricia Brinkley, a dedicated public
servant with deep roots in family advocacy and a commitment to making a difference in her
community. As part of our ongoing mission to educate and empower Republican women to run
for office, we sat down with Patricia to learn more about her journey and her bid for Nevada
Senate District 1.
Background Information:
Patricia grew up in San Francisco, California, the eldest of six children born to veteran parents.
Her mother, a surgical nurse during WWII, rose to the rank of Captain, while her father, a WWII
Army veteran, later served as an air traffic controller in the Air Force, retiring as a Master
Sergeant. These strong role models instilled in Patricia the importance of education and service
to others. After earning her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley,
Patricia went on to receive her J.D. from the University of San Francisco, School of Law. For
over 30 years, she has been practicing law with a focus on families and probate administration.
What Office Are You Running For?
Patricia is currently running for Senate District 1, representing a substantial portion of North Las
Vegas, Nevada. With the incumbent termed out, Patricia sees a unique opportunity to bring her
fresh perspective to the seat.
Why Are You Running for Office?
Patricia’s career has been defined by her commitment to family advocacy. She has spent time
ensuring families received benefits in Alameda County, worked to reduce juvenile recidivism,
and represented parents in Juvenile Dependency Court. Her legal practice focuses on helping
families navigate everything from adoptions to probate administration. Now, she views running
for office as a natural continuation of her lifelong commitment to serving families and her
community.
Why Are You the Better Candidate?
Patricia emphasizes her independence and commitment to common-sense principles. "I bring
fresh eyes and a new perspective in problem-solving," she explains. Patricia is committed to
working directly for her constituents and rejects being beholden to party lines, donors, or
lobbyists. She promises to remain accessible and accountable to her district, ensuring that their
voices will always come first.
What Two Policy Initiatives Will You Address First Once in Office?
1. Education Reform: Patricia’s top priority is education. She believes in parental choice,
empowering parents to decide the best educational path for their children, whether that
be homeschooling, private, charter, or public school. She also advocates for funding to
follow the student, ensuring all children have access to quality education.
2. Healthcare Expansion: With Nevada experiencing a shortage of healthcare
professionals, Patricia plans to address this issue head-on. She seeks to find innovative
ways to attract qualified medical professionals to Nevada, especially to serve the state’s
growing retiree population.
Achievements to Mention:
Patricia is not only a candidate but a community leader. She and her husband, Garland Brinkley
running for Assembly District 1, co-founded the Conservative Town Hall of North Las Vegas,
which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. Patricia and her husband also volunteer at
the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, and she is an avid chess player, archer, and aspiring pilot.
